ROW80 7/27 check in

You know that saying "all good things must come to an end"? Well my goal-kicking streak definitely adhered to that this week. Epic fail all around. I don't want to post goal by goal this week because all of the red will probably depress me.

I only had a chance to write last Wednesday and a little bit on Monday. Thankfully I'm still on target for having Arieties ready for beta readers by the end of ROW80, which is my main goal. Unfortunately it's giving me a ton of issues. I'm going to work on it today for about an hour and if inspiration doesn't strike I'm going to have to set it aside and focus on another story.

In keeping with my weekly tradition, here's some cake:

He's disappointed in my lack of goal crushing this week. Hope everyone else was able to hit their goals!

  1. Oh, what a face. I would it him though. (It's not cannibalism, right? :P)
Well, there will be days when things won't roll but hopefully, they will perk up soon.
Still, like you said, you're on target with your main goal and that's something. :)

  2. Adorable cake, maybe I'll swipe just a little frosting, but too cute to eat, lol.

It's still early in the week, and most importantly you're clearly on your way to hitting your initial goal - so that's something to celebrate :)

  3. I'm so sorry to hear you've hit a snafu! It happens. I've lost entire weeks due to high school and elementary wrestling schedules. Heck, I've lost whole weeks because I got caught up in a good novel...(I tend to gravitate towards these enormous tomes...Like War & Peace)

You'll be fine in a few days. Just dream up a scene you're looking forward to writing...it will give you the jump start you need.

Thanks for stopping by today, it's great to meet you. Take care, ~Nadja

  4. Ohhhhhh, disappointed cake looks so SAD!

Every so often I think our muses need a chance to sit back and recharge a bit, at least that what mine does (actually, she throws a bit of a tantrum and shuts down -- "You are working me far too hard, and I want to take a nap and eat bon bons!" she seems to yell from time to time). Glad to hear, though, that you're on track for your main goal. Good job there!

  5. @darkwrite - thanks! Yeah I just gotta keep focusing on my main goal. I've done well writing so far today so hopefully I'll keep it up through Friday (concert in Philly this weekend, won't be doing any writing there!)

@Marie - thanks for the optimism!

@Nadja - Great to meet you too! Isn't that one of the best things about ROW80? And I think I passed my roadblock a little today. I'm one scene away from completing my total rewrite of the ending of my novel so yay!

@Jamila - Haha, I know, poor disappointed cake. Mmmm bon bons, your muse knows whats up :)

    Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Sorry that your week is not going as planned but you know what? You still checked-in, you didn't hide away.

I hope things pick up for you and a smiling cake appears next check-in!

  7. Lisa, sometimes we have to stop and take a deep breath. Don't beat yourself up over not making your goals. We've all been there, trust me. Things will turn around. I wish you the best of luck.

  8. Aww! I'm sorry you didn't meet your goals. Last week was tough for me. I gave myself weekly goals instead of daily ones and it really eased my stress level...which always helps the creativity.

That cake is super cute though. It's impossible not to smile when I look at his sad cake face. Does that make me mean?

  9. Aw shucks! Sorry to hear it wasn't a good week, goal-wise, but it did result in a cute cake. I want to give him a hug - or eat him...

  10. You're still doing better than I am. I have no excuses for failing my goals. But I've been doing better over the past few days. Good luck.

    That cake looks yummy.
